Friction Material
C/C as Friction Material
C/C composite is applicable to many areas of frictional material from “sliding” to “stopping” by controlling the frictional coefficient.
Characteristics of C/C as Sliding Material
- Great Heat Resistance-Heat Resistance of 100% carbon
They can be used in hot temperature where resin or metal can not be used.
- Great Stability of the Size-The Coefficient of Thermal Expansion is 0~1(x10-6℃)
It prevents the deformation caused by frictional heat
- Reduces Friction without Lubricant-Self-lubricant, the characterristics of carbon
It can be used in those dry circumstances where lubricant can not be used.
- Resistance against wear-Designs for each Frictional Circumstances
The required resistance against wear can be achieved by designing the C/C composite for each circumstance.
- Lightweight-Density is 1.7g/cm3
It is so light that the weight is only 1/4 to 1/5 of iron (iron's density is 7.8g/cm3)
- High Rigidity-Reinforced by carbon fiber
It is 3 to 5 times stronger than ordinary carbon material because it uses carbon fiber as reinforcement.
